Dreams as Training for Death
Dreams as Training for Death
Five Great Dreams of the Buddha β before his awakening, Siddhartha had five prophetic dreams including lying on the whole earth, grass growing from his navel to the sky, and worms covering his body β all signs of imminent enlightenment.
The Bardo Thodol (Tibetan Book of the Dead) describes death as the most intense dream β passage through 'bardo' states between death and rebirth. Dream yoga practice is preparation for death: if you can recognize a dream while sleeping, you can recognize the illusion in the bardo.
"If you can recognize the dream while dreaming, you can recognize the bardo at the moment of death."
